It’s time to take back control

Tom and Alison are preparing to fly from Dallas to Indianapolis to visit their daughter Poppy, who relocated there for a job. In the meantime, Chicago is experiencing a severe thunderstorm, impacting hundreds of flights at O’Hare. In repairing the schedule, the Recovery Solver in Jeppesen Ops Control proposes multiple solutions.

The crew of Tom and Alison’s flight board the same aircraft as originally planned and prepare to receive passengers.

Impact to crew is minimal since no major re-routing was made. Those crew members which are affected are notified automatically through Jeppesen Crew Tracking.

Flight Scheduling creates and publishes the new timetable. Most flights will experience at least a 30-minute delay, with about 10% cancelled altogether.

Seeing that her parents’ flight is delayed, Poppy decides to spend some extra time cleaning her apartment in preparation for their visit.

Tom and Alison arrive at DFW. There they learn their flight to IND has been delayed by 40 minutes. With the extra time, they decide to enjoy some Tex-Mex and a margarita.

Once everyone is boarded, the pilot greets passengers and says they should be able to make up some time in the air.

Tom and Alison land at IND only 25 minutes later than planned, make their way to the arrivals area and share a big hug with Poppy, happily reunited after six months apart.

The originally scheduled crew will no longer be going through DFW and are instead on their way to Atlanta. Instead, one of the crews that was scheduled to fly from DFW to ORD will now be working the flight from DFW to IND







Impact to crew is minimal. In addition to those on the ORD flights, many will be reassigned as flights are being diverted. They receive notifications automatically through Jeppesen Crew Tracking.
